We have bi-partisan legislation
President Barack Obama may talk about bi-partisanship and no more “business as usual,” but he’s got nothing on State Represenative BJ Nikkel. She walks the walk! Her bill titled the Colorado Taxpayer Transparency Act has 38 sponsors, 29 Republicans and 9 Democrats.
First, COST would like to thank Rep. Nikkel for her tireless efforts on behalf of taxpayers of Colorado.
Second, COST thanks the legislators who put their names on this importance piece of legislation that, if passed, will create a searchable database for all state revenues and expenditures.
HB09-1288 has been assigned to the House Finance Committee. Members names and phone numbers are listed below should you want to let them know your perspective on state spending transparency. Notice that five of the eleven members are sponsors of the legislation.
