reads the headline in today’s Denver Post. COST couldn’t have written a more accurate headline. It’s true. Transparency is gaining a foothold in the Senate. Our friend Ben DeGrow’s paper Shining the Light on Colorado School Spending Transparency was mentioned in the article. Good job Ben!
The Colorado Senate was supposed to vote today on SB09-57. According to our sources, more than 50 people packed the Senate Gallery to support Senator Ted Harvey’s efforts to reinstate the bill’s original language. The vote is delayed until Monday. While disappointing, this still is good news for transparency supporters. Remember, anti-transparency forces wanted this bill killed. It was not supposed to make it out of the Senate Education Committee.
If you would like to find out where your Senator stands on financial transparency, below is a list of email addresses and phone numbers so you can ask.
